“Painter Vaghela, 38, is from the old city of Junagadh in Gujarat and he loves ornamental type. When briefed on the project, he decided to show his skills by making a typeface out of Fish and Bones.”
Hanif Kureshi, a designer who lives and works in Delhi, is the founder of the Hand Painted Type project. Delhi is full of these awesome, elaborate hand-painted signs, but digital technologies are putting the sign painter’s work in jeopardy. Kureshi’s website is about digitizing their typographic styles so they’re preserved for future generations. Saying it now, we’re definitely working with these guys when it’s time to produce our interactive.
